Where to start… comfort food

You know what I’m talking about, the one thing that will satisfy like nothing else can, the one thing you turn to in times stress, sadness or you just want that warm and fuzzy feeling inside that only comfort food can give you

I have a few, I’m not going to lie, Im greedy like that. I love beans on toast, beans and sausage on toast, and I’m very much of the opinion that beans need to be cooked, not just heated up, but cooked until they start to break down a little bit and the sauce becomes a bit thicker so that when you adorn your toast with your well cooked beans it still retains a little bit of toasty crunchiness, a smattering of cheese never goes amiss either.

I also have a soft spot for plain boiled rice and pasta, nothing on it but an unhealthy amount of salt, I could eat it with anything. I remember when I was a bit younger, when my mum would make pasta, I’d always request a little bit of plain pasta on the side of my plate, Im pretty sure I’m just weird but its something I still do today, unless were having something like Mac and cheese or pasta bake, I’ll have my sauce on one side of my plate and pasta on the other.

I think I lean more towards the savoury side of things when it comes to comfort food but one sweet treat I do love is rice pudding, out of a tin is good, heated up on the hob and swirled with a spoon of jam, makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside

So, what’s your go to comfort food? sweet or savoury? hot or cold? tell me what gives you the warm and fuzzies
